Our
Inception
Impact Foundation Bangladesh (IFB), a member of the International Federation of IMPACT Organizations (IFIO), is an independent national Foundation, established in 1993, as a significant initiative against avoidable disabilities with the inspiration and support from Late Sir John Wilson, CBE, DCL, the architect of the Global IMPACT Movement. IFB, governed by a 7-member Board of Trustees, is a Charitable Trust with registration number 45, dated 25th July 1993, and also as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with the NGO Affairs Bureau, Government of Bangladesh, bearing registration number 775, dated 20th November 1993.
Since inception, IFB has been providing wide-range of comprehensive hospital and community-based services to prevent and cure avoidable disabilities among the rural and underserved communities in Bangladesh through cataract/Eye, ENT, cleft lip/palate, clubfoot, and other routine general and gynecological treatment and surgeries. IFB’s outreach programs span capacity building training, mothers’ club networking, home gardening, safe water, hygienic sanitation, nutrition training etc.
IIFB implements its programs through the Impact Hospital and Diagnostic Centre in Chuadanga; Impact ‘Jibon Mela’ Health Center in Meherpur, and the ‘Jibon Tari’ Floating Hospital.
IFB also specializes in physical rehabilitation by orthotic and prosthetic devices, and physiotherapy through the Sir John Wilson Assistive Device Centre in Chuadanga – the sole specialized Centre in southwestern Bangladesh.
IFB also offers a three-year diploma degree in nursing education to underprivileged yet meritorious girls from Meherpur and the surrounding districts. The educational project, Impact Nursing Institute (INI) was established in 2014 and is accredited by the Bangladesh Nursing and Midwifery Council (BNMC).
