Proshanti Project
Pelvic Organ Prolapse, or uterine prolapse, is a condition that affects hundreds of women in developing countries, including Bangladesh. Often resulting from childbirth and limited access to quality maternal healthcare, it impacts a woman’s physical and emotional well-being. The lack of opportunity to treatment options for women belonging to a lower socio-economic background can lead to years of suffering and social isolation.
In partnership with the DAK International Network, formerly DAK Foundation/PFE Australia, IFB has been implementing the ‘Proshanti’project for rural women in Bangladesh since January 2017.
Under this life-changing project, IFB has established 23 specialized treatment facilities across 18 districts, including 4 Government Medical College Hospitals and 18 private clinics.
The project provides hands-on training to skilled Gynecologists by a dedicated team of overseas specialists from Australia on a modern surgical technique- “sacrospinous fixation”, ensuring knowledge transfer and sustainable local capacity building.
The ‘Proshanti’Project supports rural underprivileged women by restoring dignity, mobility, and peace of mind, making a profound impact on their lives.
