Impact Jibon Tari Floating Hospital
The first-ever floating hospital in both Bangladesh and Southeast Asia was launched on the bank of the Padma River at Mawa Ghat on April 10, 1999. Since then, the three-decked hospital has been providing essential medical and surgical services to people living in remote, flood-prone and riverine regions of the country focusing on the prevention and treatment of avoidable disabilities in areas where conventional healthcare services are scarce.
The 40-meter long, 10-meter wide floating hospital has gained the trust of millions by bringing essential medical services directly to their doorsteps. Over the past two decades, the three-deck floating facility has been delivering life-changing healthcare to people living in the most remote areas of Bangladesh, where impoverished populations often lack access to advanced medical care due to high costs and the distance from government healthcare facilities. The hospital has become a symbol of healing and hope for those living in rural, flood-prone, and riverine regions of the country.
